The School Promotion Criteria
For emphasis, parents/guardians are to note the following promotion criteria:
· SS Art students: 5 credits including English Language, Mathematics and any three of the following subjects: Lit-in-Eng; Government; History; IRS/CRS; Visual Art/Music/French; Yoruba; Igbo; Hausa; Biology; Geography and Economics.
· SS Commercial students: 5 credits including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any two of the following subjects: Financial Account; Commerce; Government; Geography; Biology and Visual Art.
· SS Science students: 5 credits including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and any of the following subjects: Biology; Geography; Economics; Further Maths; Technical Drawing; Agricultural Science; Food and Nutrition and Visual Art.
· JS students: 7 credits including English Language and Mathematics.
The minimum credit pass is 50% and the school has a standard policy on this. Parents/Guardians are advised to take note of these requirements and encourage their children/wards to study to achieve academic excellence.
Students Disciplinary Committee Recommendations
At the SDC meeting held on Thursday, 31 May, 2021, the following recommendations were made:

Important Information for JSS1 Students
It has been observed that a number of JS1 students do not pack their complete notes and textbooks for each day. This, in no small way, affects their participation in class activities.Parents/Guardians of this category of students, particularly day students, are advised to create time for their children/wards and ensure their notebooks are thoroughly checked each day when they return from school. We also strongly appeal that parents/guardians be actively involved in their child/ward’s welfare and ensure all notes and textbooks are well checked into their backpacks before coming to school.
These students also need to be guided in doing their assignments, and turning in same on time. This task should not be left to the School alone. Therefore, the home needs to be alive to this duty/responsibility, to complement the effort of the School in the developmental progress of the students.
Early Morning and Afternoon Classes for SS1 and SS2 Classes
Extension classes for SS1 and SS2 students will continue upon resumption from the mid-term break. In view of this, all senior school students are expected to resume for early morning classes in school at 7AM. Afternoon classes shall commence at 3PM. Parents/Guardians are to note that these classes are a part of regular classes. Students who fail to attend may be at a disadvantage, since topics treated in these classes will not be repeated, except during revision classes. Hence, parents/guardians should please support this arrangement and ensure their children/wards attend.
Payment of Outstanding Fees
Parents/Guardians are to take note that any student indebted to the School will not be allowed into the School premises effective Wednesday, 15th June, 2021. We, therefore, encourage our esteemed parents/guardians to pay up their children/guardians’ school fees to avoid any form of embarrassment. School fees drive for third term (2020/21 session) will start immediately after the mid-term third break.
2020/2021 NECO SSCE
All SS3 students are hereby informed that NECO examinations will start on 5th July, 2021. Each student will be given a copy of the timetable at the appropriate time. We, therefore, encourage our students to strive towards excellence in the examinations.
SS2 Geography Students’ Academic Excursion
The Geography students in SS2 went on an academic excursion on 8th June, 2021 to the National Institute for Oceanography and Marine Research in Victoria Island, Lagos State. In the course of the excursion, the students were exposed to practical lessons on the things that had been taught in class.
Information on National Identity Card
This is to inform students and members of staff that registration for National Identity Card will commence in the school premises from Wednesday, 9th June, 2021 at the ICT room. Interested students and members of staff should fill in the registration form at the Account Unit.
Coming Late to School
Parents/Guardians should be aware that the School frowns at late coming. Students who come to school after 8:30am are at a disadvantage as they are punished, sent home or possibly delayed to miss the first four periods. Every student is expected to be in school latest 8a.m. and be part of the morning assembly/class reading activity. We, therefore, urge and appeal, once again, to parents/guardians of our day students to ensure that students get to school on time.
Student’s Dress Code
A handful of our students still come to school in uniforms and house wears they have outgrown. We have been sending such students home (day students) while boarders are not allowed in classes until parents/guardians make replacements. Girls’ gowns should not be tight-fitting and should cover their knees while boys’ shorts should be in the range of the knee cap. Senior boys are not permitted to come to school in jeans or tightly-sewn trousers otherwise known as ‘pencil’. The recommended colour of shoes is black; no other colour is allowed. The sole of shoes should be black as well. Only white and black pairs of socks are allowed. Ankle socks are not allowed. Shoes should be flat and not high-heeled. Boots are not allowed. Shoes and socks that do not conform to the school rules and regulations will be confiscated. Boys’ haircut should be very low and even and girls on afro must have their haircut even. Other styles of haircut apart from this are not allowed in the School.
School Cardigans
Parents/Guardians are hereby informed that the recommended school cardigans are available in the school at the rate of N2,800.00. Kindly note that only the recommended school cardigans will be permitted in the school and any cardigan at variance with the recommended type will be seized.
Electronic Gadgets in School
In spite of repeated warnings to our students to desist from bringing electronic gadgets such as phones, tablets, laptop computers and so on to school, a handful of our students still bring them. This is a reminder to parents that the School will not return any seized gadget. The seized items will be donated during Charity Programme to the less privileged.
Cambridge ‘A’ Level Programme
The Cambridge ‘A’ Level programme is on course. Admission is available for candidates with a minimum of five combinable ‘O’ Level credits (including English Language and Mathematics) and a minimum of C6 in each of the candidate’s combinable subjects. Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)
Registration for SAT has commenced and classes are ongoing. Interested parents are to contact Mr. Akinsooto, D. on 08034817088 or Mr. Ogunfowokan, O.O. on 08065913752.
Awards
i. The Department of Wildlife and Ecotourism Management, University of Ibadan, in commemoration of the World Biodiversity Day, organised debate and quiz competitions on 21 May, 2021. Ten (10) schools including ISI were invited and ISI was represented by Olatunji Toluwanimi; Olawuyi Matthew; Oyediran Abdulrahman and Oyaromade Temiloluwa (all in SS3) and they made the School proud. Our students took the first (1st) position in the quiz competition and the 2nd position in the debate competition.
ii. At the Spelling Bee organised by Student Guide at Ibadan Civic Centre on 27 May, 2021, Isaac Odunayo and Bolaji Adejumo (both in JS3) represented ISI against nineteen (19) other schools. Our students got the 2nd runner-up position.
The School commends these students for the feat and encourages other students to make excellence their hallmark.
Donations
i. Prof (Mrs) Bamgbose donated over 30 copies of different academic and literature books to the School for the propagation of academic excellence in the School.
ii. Dr (Mrs) D.O. Jimoh donated 5 copies of her book “Basic History for JSS in Nigeria (Bk 1)” and another 5 copies “Basic History for JSS in Nigeria (Books 2 and 3)”.
iii. The 2019 set of ISI donated a set of training bibs and a football to the School football team.
The altruistic nature of our parents, staff and alumni has been overwhelming and the School appreciates their kind gestures. Students are advised to take advantage of these donations.
