Appreciation
Today, Friday, 13 December, 2019, marks the end of the First Term (2019/20) session. We thank the Almighty for His grace and protection over us throughout the term. We also appreciate the cooperation of our parents/guardians and pray God will continue to bless them.
End-of-Term Package
Included in the package given to each student are the following items:
i. End-of-Term Report Sheet;
ii. Marked Examination Scripts;
iii. Newsletter to Parents.
The School Promotion Criteria
Parents/Guardians are advised to continuously charge their children/wards to strive towards meeting up with the School promotion criteria so as to earn promotion to the next class. New students are particularly advised to take note of the promotion criteria:
· SS Arts students: 5 credits including English Language, Mathematics and any three of the following subjects: Lit-in-Eng; Government; History; IRS/CRS; Visual Art/Music/French; Yoruba; Igbo; Hausa; Biology; Geography and Economics.
· SS Commercial students: 5 credits including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any two of the following subjects: Financial Account; Commerce; Government; Geography; Biology and Visual Art.
· SS Science students: 5 credits including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and any of the following subjects: Biology; Geography; Economics; Further Maths; Technical Drawing; Agricultural Science; Food and Nutrition and Visual Art.
· JS students: 7 credits including English Language and Mathematics.
The minimum credit pass is 50% and the school has a standard policy on this. Parents/Guardians are advised to take note of these requirements and encourage their children/wards to study to achieve academic excellence.
Early Morning and Afternoon Classes for SS1, SS2 and SS3 Classes
Extension classes will continue next term. Parents/Guardians and SS1 students are particularly enjoined to take note that these extension classes are a part of regular classes. Students who fail to attend may be at a disadvantage, since topics treated in these classes will not be repeated, except during revision classes. Hence, parents/guardians should please support this arrangement and ensure their children/wards attend these classes.
JSS1 Students
Parents/Guardians of this category of students, particularly day students, are advised to create time for their children/wards and ensure their notebooks are thoroughly checked each day when they return from school. The students also need to be guided in doing their assignments, and turning in same on time. The JSS1 students, not too long ago, were admitted into the secondary school and still need a lot of supervision to excel in their academics. This task should not be left to the school alone. Therefore, the home needs to be alive to this duty/responsibility, to complement the effort of the School in the developmental progress of the students.
UTME Coaching
UTME Coaching will commence on 9th January, 2020. Parents/Guardians are strongly advised to encourage their children/wards to join immediately and be punctual as the preparation period is short. Subjects available include Mathematics, English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, CRS and Literature-in-English. The coaching fee is ₦5,000.00 per subject. This is to be paid into the school’s IGR account 2017816821.
Payment of School Fees
Parents/Guardians are to note the following:
a. School fees for the second term 2019/20 session are as follows:
JS1, JS2, SS1 and SS2: Staff: ₦58,000.00 Non-Staff: ₦78,000.00
These are to be paid into First Bank Account No. 2005514731.
b. Parents/Guardians of JSS3 students are reminded to complete payment for first, second and third terms on or before resumption. The details are as follows:
JSS3: Staff: ₦175,750.00; Non-staff: ₦235,750.00

c. Boarding Form fees: ₦500.00 to be paid into First Bank Account No: 2017816821
d. Boarding Fee: ₦120,000.00 to be paid into First Bank Account No. 2002142106 or Stanbic IBTC Bank Account No. 0026085901
e. Boarding Supervision Fee: ₦2,500.00 to be paid into First Bank Account No. 2017593645.
f. Boarders Lesson Fee: JSS (₦10,200.00); SSS (₦12,700.00) to be paid into First Bank Account No. 2017593645.
g. ICT Fee: ₦8,000.00 to be paid into First Bank Account No. 2017816821. This fee is optional and is meant to be paid by parents who want their children to be part of the extra tuition (tutorials) in programmes like Microsoft Word, Adobe, Dreamweaver, CorelDraw and so on.
h. All duplicate bank tellers showing appropriate cash lodgement are to be forwarded to the School for the issuance of receipts. Scanned copies or photocopies are not acceptable.
i. Parents/Guardians interested in online payment can do so. For such payments, ensure that the narration of payment includes the name and class of your child/ward and the purpose of the lodgement (e.g. James Akintunde, JSS 2A; School fees, Ishola Oladeji JSS 2B; Boarding fees). The online generated transaction report/cyber receipt should be saved and sent as an attachment to isiaccountscps@yahoo.com. The payment will be acknowledged by the issuance of receipt, which concerned parents can pick up from the Accounts department of the School.
Second Term Excursion
There will be a one-day mid-term tour to Egbaland palace and Olumo Rock, Abeokuta and a nine-day Easter holiday tour to Togo and Ghana. The excursion fees, which will cover transportation, feeding and payable tariff of places amongst others, are ₦5,000.00 and ₦250,000.00 to Abeokuta and Togo/Ghana respectively. The fees should be paid into Salpen Enterprises’ First bank account no. 2020220375.
Coming Late to School
Parents/Guardians should be aware that the School frowns at late coming. Students who come late are at a disadvantage as they are punished, sent home or possibly delayed to miss the first four periods. Every student is expected to be in school latest 8a.m. and be part of the morning assembly/class reading activity. We, therefore, urge and appeal, once again, to parents/guardians of our day students to ensure that students get to school before 8a.m.
Student’s Dress Code
A handful of our students still come to school in uniforms and house wears they have outgrown. We have been sending such students home (day students) while boarders are not allowed in classes until parents/guardians make replacements. Girls’ gowns should not be tight-fitting and should cover their knees while boys’ shorts should be in the range of the knee cap. Senior boys are not permitted to come to school in jeans or tightly-sewn trousers otherwise known as ‘pencil’. The recommended colour of shoes is black; no other colour is allowed. The sole of shoes should be black as well. Only white or black pairs of socks are allowed. Ankle socks are not allowed. Shoes should be flat and not high-heeled. Boots are not allowed. Shoes and socks that do not conform to the school rules and regulations will be confiscated. Boys’ haircut should be very low and even and girls on afro must have their haircut even. Other styles of haircut apart from this are not allowed in the School.
School Cardigans
Parents/Guardians are hereby informed that the recommended school cardigans are available in the School at the rate of N2,800.00. Kindly note that only the recommended school cardigans will be permitted in the School and any cardigan at variance with the recommended type will be seized.
Electronic Gadgets in School
In spite of repeated warnings to our students to desist from bringing electronic gadgets such as phones, tablets, laptop computers and so on to school, a handful of our students still bring them. This is a reminder to parents that the School will not return any seized gadget. The seized items will be donated during Charity Programme to the less privileged.
The ISI Mobile NewsApp
All school related information can be found on ISI NewsApp. Parents/guardians should cultivate the habit of regularly checking this App to keep abreast of developments in the School. The NewsApp can be downloaded on the School website (www.isi.ui.edu.ng).
Cambridge ‘A’ Level Programme
The Cambridge ‘A’ Level programme is on course. Admission is available for candidates with a minimum of five combinable ‘O’ Level credits (including English Language and Mathematics) and a minimum of C6 in each of the candidate’s combinable subjects. Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)
Registration for SAT has commenced and classes are ongoing. Interested parents are to contact Mr. Akinsooto, D. on 08034817088 or Mr. Ogunfowokan, O.O. on 08065913752.
Honour/Award
· The award for the Naija 2018 English Championship was held in Lagos state on Tuesday, 10 December 2019 and five ISI students emerged winners:

The student with the first position was awarded a cash award of ₦30,000, second position was awarded ₦20,000 and the students with the third position were given ₦10,000 each. Also, Adetunji Victor’s (first position) English teacher, Mrs Ologunsua, was given an award. Each of the students was also given a certificate. The School was also given a brand new printer.
· At the NutriQuiz competition organised from 13th to 15th November, 2019 at IITA by HarvestPlus Nigeria, Federal Ministry of Education, Federal Ministry of Health, Developmental Partners and the Oyo State Government, ISI was invited alongside over 20 other schools (across the federation). Represented by Diala Chukwuemeka (SS3E) and Olatunji Toluwanimi (SS2E), ISI emerged the 2nd runner-up of the competition. Prizes and honours received are; two hundred thousand naira (N200,000), a trophy, many gift items and free publicity in print and electronic media amongst other things.
· An event tagged Academic Conference was organised by Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, Akinyele Area Council for Muslim students of all secondary schools in Akinyele Local Government on 27th October, 2019 at UI Mosque. Our students participated and won in various categories:
i. Akinbile Fadeelah (SS2C): First position in senior category of essay and oratory contest.
ii. Atanda Fareedah (JS1C): Second position in junior category of essay and oratory contest.
iii. AbdulRazaq Kauthar (SS2E): Third position in senior category of quiz competition.
· Ajani Olaoluwa (SS2B) was the first runner-up in a short story competition organised to commemorate the Girl-Child on 11th October, 2019 by Teach Her Foundation at the University of Ibadan.
Donations
i. The ’84 set of the school has renovated the JB block (JS3 block)’s toilets to a world-class masterpiece. The toilets will be commissioned in January, 2020.
ii. An ISI parent, Mrs M.T. Balogun donated cash and a first aid box filled with medical items to the school. The School appreciates this kind gesture.
iii. Mr Niyi Adenubi, an ex ISI, also the Executive Director of VFD Group Plc, donated ten (10) Educational Tablets for the advancement of academic activities in our school. The School appreciates this donation.
